Management changes at Gold Fields Limited

Johannesburg, 7  September 1999: Gold Fields Limited today announced, with
regret, that Tom Dale had tendered his resignation as Managing Director of the
Company.

Chris Thompson, Chairman of Gold Fields, said; "Tom advised me three months
ago that he felt that his major contribution to the future of Gold Fields had
been made and that the corporate and mine management teams were ideally
qualified to realise the vision of Gold Fields. Accordingly it was agreed that
Tom would continue to serve until a replacement could be found and a suitable
transition arranged."

"It is with pleasure that we also announce that Ian Cockerill, Executive
Officer responsible for African Operations, exploration and new business at
AngloGold Limited, will join Gold Fields as Managing Director, before the end
of September," said Thompson.

Mr. Cockerill, aged 45, has an extensive background in gold mining, having
been Manager of Western Deep Levels and, prior to that, Manager of Elandsrand
Gold Mine. He has a successive 21-year service with the Anglo American group,
including a spell with Minorco in London and with various of the Group's
diamond and gold operations.

"Tom Dale's contribution to Gold Fields must be recognised by management,
employees and investors alike.  He, above all, is credited with the swift
turnaround that was achieved in converting the major Driefontein and Kloof
complexes from cash losers in the first half of 1998, to substantial profit
earners in late 1998 and early 1999," said Thompson.

"The difficult decisions to reduce complements and drastically change mining
practices were all his and have laid the foundation for the future of the
company. Tom can be proud of his legacy," said Thompson.

Alan Wright, Deputy Chairman, said; "All the members of the board join me in
wishing Tom well in his new endeavors. His strength of character and clear
thinking will be missed around here".
