TANJONG PUBLIC LIMITED COMPANY ("TANJONG" OR THE "COMPANY")

- Bid for assets of CargoLifter AG



We are pleased to announce that Tanjong public limited company ("Tanjong") has
submitted a conditional bid to acquire a parcel of land of approximately 500
hectares and certain assets of CargoLifter AG, which is presently under
receivership (the "proposed acquisition"). The subject matter of the bid is
located in Brand, 60 kilometres south of Berlin, Germany on which a
free-standing hangar measuring 360 metres long, 210 metres wide and 107 metres
high has been constructed on, and has been preferred by the liquidator of
CargoLifter AG.



The bid was made jointly with Mr Colin Au and the proposed acquisition is
subject to the execution of a purchase contract between the parties and is
targeted for finalisation by 15 July 2003.



Tanjong and Mr Colin Au propose to enter into a joint venture agreement to
develop the land into a "Tropical Island" holiday destination that provides an
all year-round indoor tropical environment. The "Tropical Island" holiday
destination will house a variety of tropical settings such as rainforest, sea,
lagoon, beaches, water parks, exhibition centres, tropical flower world, resort
hotels and spas to cater for all age group visitors.



A further announcement will be made to disclose the terms of the proposed joint
venture and proposed acquisition and the "Tropical Island" holiday destination
project once the definitive joint venture agreement and purchase contract have
been executed.

Tanjong public limited company ("Tanjong" or "Company") was incorporated in
England on 2 January 1926 as Tanjong Tin Dredging Limited. The name of the
Company was changed to Tanjong public limited company in 1991 following the
restructuring of the Company and the acquisition of Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd.
  Tanjong shares were re-listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and the
London Stock Exchange plc on 24 December 1991.

principal activities of its subsidiaries in the People's Republic of China are
the importation, bottling, sale and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas. The
Group has a joint venture in the film exhibition business and an associate which
leases facilities for online lottery operations.

industries. He was previously the Executive Director of Genting Berhad, Managing
Director of Genting International Limited and President & Chief Executive of
