The top labor representative of General Motors Corp.'s (GM) German Adam Opel GmbH unit said Tuesday that Magna International Inc. (MGA) is clearly in pole position for a deal with Opel, but added that RHJ International (RHJI.BT) has also presented an interesting offer with further potential.

During a press conference near Frankfurt, Klaus Franz said that Fiat SpA (F.MI) didn't attend a meeting at Opel's headquarters.

Both Magna and RHJ plan to cut around 10,000 jobs in Europe in the event of a deal with Opel, Franz said.
