Mpower Announces Initial Deployment of Fixed Wireless Broadband Network in Las Vegas Intel/Alvarion Streaming Video Application Riding Mpower Fixed Wireless Network at Networld+InterOp Show LAS VEGAS, May 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NETWORLD + INTEROP -- Mpower Communications Corp. (AMEX:MPE), a leading provider of data and voice services to retail and wholesale business customers, today announced the initial deployment of its new fixed wireless broadband network in Las Vegas. Fixed wireless delivers broadband high-speed Internet connections through antennas that send and receive signals across entire cities. Mpower's fixed wireless broadband network will support a wide range of voice and data applications with dynamic bandwidth on-demand and quick installations. As part of this initial deployment, Mpower is pleased to partner with Alvarion, the world's leading provider of wireless broadband solutions and specialized mobile networks. This week, Intel Corporation used Mpower's point-to-multipoint fixed wireless network and Alvarion equipment to showcase a streaming video application across three different locations as part of its exhibit at the NetWorld+Interop Las Vegas 2005 conference and trade show. BreezeACCESS VL delivers OFDM non-line-of-sight (NLOS) performance, extended reach of more than 12 miles, high capacity, encryption, and quality of service (QoS) mechanisms to enable operators to deploy true commercial class wireless broadband services today. Mpower has also installed the BreezeACCESS VL series of Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) to provide an always-on high-speed IP based data connection to customers' location.
