Sales of Mercedes-Benz Group cars rose by 0.7% in 2019, with a total of 2.5 million new models entering the market, helped by a strong performance in China.

The division, owned by Germany's Daimler AG (DAI.XE), said Thursday that growth was recorded across its main markets. Mercedes-Benz brand sales--which exclude Smart brand models--increased by 1.3%.

Meanwhile, growth in China continued, with sales rising 6.2% from the previous year.
