-- The United Auto Workers union said it has signed indefinite contract extensions with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV and Ford Motor Co., The Detroit News reports, citing "letters dated Friday from the international union sent to local UAW leaders."

-- The union is continuing talks with General Motors Co. (GM), seeking a deal with that company which will be used to guide talks with the other Detroit car makers.

-- GM's contract with the union expires this weekend, the report said.
