--German automotive-parts company Continental AG (CON.XE) is considering closing nine of its overall 32 Powertrain plants, German newspaper Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

--The closures could affect German and global sites of the Powertrain business, which Continental plans to list on the stock market as part of an overall company restructuring, the newspaper reports.

--Continental declined to comment on the reported closures when contacted by Dow Jones, but a spokeswoman said: "Our goal is to work together with our employees to develop solutions that will secure the competitiveness and future viability of our company in the long term."
