New Online School Now Accepting Enrollment for
the 2019-2020 School Year
Students across the state are invited to find the career path
that works best for them at Missouri Virtual Academy (MOVA), a
program of the Grandview R-2 School District that is now accepting
enrollment applications for the 2019-2020 school year.
Through the school’s Destinations Career Academy, students can
pair a solid academic foundation with hands-on learning experiences
in growing career fields like information technology, business,
health and human services, and more. Even if a student doesn’t know
exactly what they want to do, career readiness programs help open a
world of what’s possible.
Career readiness programs don’t just benefit students—they
benefit employers too. Across the state, “only 46 percent of the
state’s workers are trained to the middle-skill level” or for jobs
that require education beyond high school but not a four-year
college degree. Career readiness programs are designed to help
bridge this gap.
“At MOVA, we are committed to providing a personalized education
that helps students grow and thrive,” said Superintendent Matthew
Zoph. “In everything we do—whether it’s preparing students to take
industry-recognized certification exams or designing individual
learning plans—we want every student to have a chance to
succeed.”
Students enrolled in the Destinations program also have the
opportunity to join the SkillsUSA chapter at MOVA. With resources
that cover 130 job categories and more than 600 national
partners—businesses, trade associations, and unions—SkillsUSA gives
students the opportunity to participate in academic competitions
and community service activities and connect with like-minded
students who have similar interests. SkillsUSA also offers access
to exclusive scholarships.
In addition to career readiness courses, MOVA students have
access to a robust online curriculum and attend live virtual
classes taught by state-licensed teachers who help bring lessons to
life. Kindergarten through high school students are offered a full
course load in the core subjects of math, science, English language
arts, history, art and music, as well as a host of electives.
Teachers regularly communicate with students and their families via
email, phone and during one-on-one meetings online.
An online public-school program, MOVA is available tuition-free
to students who reside anywhere in the state. Many families and
students are choosing MOVA because it provides an alternative to
traditional brick-and-mortar education. Athletes, advanced
learners, and students seeking a bullying-free environment can
balance a full academic course load along with extracurricular
pursuits or medical needs.
Outside of the virtual classroom, MOVA students will remain with
their district of residence and graduate with their home district.
Students will still be eligible for sports, outings, and
extra-curricular activities like all other public-school students
in Missouri.
Interested students and families are encouraged to attend online
information sessions hosted by MOVA. To learn more, visit

Android devices.
