Bold and visionary district leadership resulted in completion of 49 million lessons collectively

DreamBox Learning® today announced that 25 school districts across the U.S. and Canada each completed more than 1 million DreamBox math lessons during the 2016-2017 school year.

This milestone reflects visionary and bold district leadership, remarkable teacher engagement, exciting student success, and a commitment to unlocking the innate brilliance in every child.

“We are very pleased with the high number of lessons that have been completed by our students using DreamBox in the Waterloo Region District School Board,” said Elaine Ranney, superintendent of Student Achievement and Well-being for Waterloo Region District School Board. “We have been offering DreamBox to complement classroom instruction, and some preliminary data shows that it can support students in closing gaps.”

DreamBox is an award-winning K-8 online math platform that uses a proprietary Intelligent Adaptive Learning™ engine to meet each child where they are by adapting lessons accordingly. DreamBox, which is used in all 50 states and across Canada, supports 80,000 teachers and 2.3 million students. Last school year, students completed more than 300 million lessons.

Leveraging engaging, age-appropriate visual representations of math, DreamBox creates a deep learning experience that motivates students to progress and achieve success with just the right amount of support when they need it.

The platform received national attention when a study from the Center for Education Policy Research (CEPR) at Harvard University, DreamBox Learning Achievement Growth, showed students who spent more time on DreamBox saw larger gains in achievement.

“Our passion is to unlock human potential by first unlocking learning potential,” said Jessie Woolley-Wilson, DreamBox president and CEO. “Completing one million lessons is a tremendous accomplishment that demonstrates how our district leader partners are using DreamBox to cultivate the deep thinkers, innovators, and leaders of tomorrow by building confidence and competence in math. These students will drive our shared future as lifelong learners.”

Among the districts that completed 1 million lessons or more are:

  • Baltimore County Public Schools (Towson, MD) – 8,032,817 lessons
  • Springfield Public School District R12 (Springfield, MO) – 1,926,959 lessons
