WASHINGTON, May 20, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following
is the daily "Profile America" feature from the U.S. Census
Bureau:
NATIONAL WAITSTAFF DAY
Profile America — Saturday, May
20th. Tomorrow is the day to add a smile to the tip you
leave at your favorite restaurant — it's National Waitstaff Day.
The occasion is one for us to express appreciation to the many
dedicated servers who make dining out a pleasurable and recurring
experience. From small diners and bars, up to top-rated five-star
restaurants, there are more than 531,000 eating and drinking places
across the U.S. Every year, Americans spend around $130 billion in these establishments. Serving us
cheerfully and efficiently are some 2.2 million waitstaff, almost
70 percent of them women. They deal daily with separate checks,
reciting the establishment's specials and making sure orders are
accurate. Profile America is beginning its 21st year as a
public service of the U.S. Census Bureau.
