SAP SE is combining three separate business networks into one, in a move aimed at bolstering the role of its cloud business.

The German software company said Wednesday that its new business network, dubbed SAP Business Network, would include the SAP Ariba Network used for procurement, the SAP Logistics Business Network to manage logistics transactions, and the SAP Asset Intelligence Network for asset management.

SAP said more than 5.5 million organizations would have access to a single, unified portal showing their supply-chain ecosystem, logistics and traceability, and equipment management, maintenance, and operations.

"Our new vision will build the world's largest business community, enabling customers to easily connect with every company across their supply chains," SAP Chief Executive Christian Klein said.

The announcement comes just over four months after SAP unveiled Rise With SAP, a service for businesses to migrate their information-technology systems to the cloud.
