Eni SpA said Thursday that it has set up a joint venture with CDP Equity SpA to produce electrical power from renewable sources in Italy.

The Italian oil-and-gas major said the JV, named GreenIT, will produce energy mainly from photovoltaic and wind plants. The aim is to reach an installed capacity of around 1,000 megawatts and have more than 800 million euros ($950.6 million) of cumulative investments by 2025.

Eni holds 51% of the new venture, while CDP Equity holds the remaining 49%.
