E.ON SE said Wednesday that net profit and sales climbed in the third quarter, and backed its forecasts for the year.

The German energy company said its net profit surged to 1.24 billion euros ($1.44 billion) from EUR700 million for the third quarter last year. On an adjusted basis, net income rose to EUR424 million from EUR139 million.

Sales came in at EUR15.05 billion compared with EUR12.81 billion last year.

Earnings before interest and taxes rose to EUR1.24 billion from EUR952 million. On an adjusted basis, EBIT rose to EUR765 million from EUR503 million.

For the year, E.ON continues to expect adjusted EBIT between EUR4.4 billion and EUR4.6 billion, and adjusted net profit between EUR2.2 billion and EUR2.4 billion.
