Volkswagen AG's Audi Group said Thursday that battery-electric vehicle deliveries further encroached on sales of its gas-burning models in 2022, lining up with a trend in the European auto market.

The group reported 118,196 sales of Audi BEVs last year compared with 81,894 in 2021. That uptick increased the luxury-vehicle maker's share of fully electric vehicle deliveries to 7.2% from 4.8%. The sales total includes Audi siblings Lamborghini and Bentley, which have no fully electric models.

Audi will release its fourth BEV towards the end of the year, according to its annual report, and plans to have 20 BEVs by 2027. The company didn't give a BEV share target for 2023.

Audi has earmarked 28 billion euros ($29.62 billion) for electrification and digitization through 2027, according to its annual report.
