MAN Truck & Bus SE said Wednesday that it is experiencing "massive supply gaps for truck wiring harnesses" amid the war in Ukraine, leading to production disruptions at the company's plants in Germany and Poland.

The commercial-vehicles maker, which is owned by Traton SE, said truck plants in Munich and Krakow experienced standstills and sites in Nuremberg, Salzgitter and Wittlich had significant production downtimes since March 14.

"Suppliers of truck wiring harnesses cannot produce at their Ukrainian sites or can only produce to a very limited extent. This threatens a loss of truck production for several weeks and a massive reduction in production in the second quarter," said the company.

Its bus production isn't significantly affected, said MAN Truck & Bus.

The company has been working on creating other supply paths for truck wiring harnesses but this will take several months, it said. It will halt non-business-critical spending and freeze hiring until further notice, while up to 11,000 employees might have to join the short-time work program.

"Customers are given the opportunity to cancel orders due to significantly longer delivery times," it said.
