Deutsche Post AG said Wednesday that Tobias Meyer will replace Frank Appel as the head of the group in May 2023.

Tobias Meyer, currently chief executive officer of Post and Parcel Germany, will be in charge of Deutsche Post's global business services department starting July 2022, and will become CEO of the group in May the following year.

Current CEO Frank Appel has decided that he won't stay for another term as the head of the German postage and logistics company. The supervisory board has extended his contract until Deutsche Post's annual general meeting on May 4, 2023, the company said.

Nikola Hagleitner--who is currently chief of sales at Post and Parcel Germany--will succeed Mr. Meyer as chief executive of the unit in July 2022, the company said.
