United Parcel Service Inc. said Friday that its diversity, equity and inclusion chief, Charlene Thomas, will retire from the company on Oct. 1.

The Atlanta-based package delivery service said Darrell Ford, the group's chief human resources officer, has been named as the successor to Ms. Thomas, who worked for the company for more than 30 years.

Mr. Ford, who also works as UPS's vice president of human resources, will assume all roles, the company said.

Ms. Thomas assumed the role of the group's DEI chief on Jan. 1, 2021, at the same time Mr. Ford joined the company from DuPont de Nemours Inc. Ms. Thomas had been the chief human resources officer.
