Delta Air Lines Inc. said it placed an order for 100 737-10 jets, the largest model in Boeing Co.'s 737 MAX line, with options to order an additional 30 airplanes.

Boeing said the jets will help reduce fuel use and emissions by 20% to 30% compared with the planes they will replace. The 737-10 jet can cover 99% of single-aisle routes around the world, seating up to 230 passengers with a maximum range of 3,300 nautical miles, the company said.

Delta also agreed to contract with Boeing Global Services for a full interior reconfiguration of 29 737-900ERs in its current fleet, Boeing said. Those planes will be ready to enter Delta's 2025 summer schedule with fully refreshed interiors, the company added.

Shares of Delta rose almost 2% in premarket trading to $30.59 a share. Boeing stock rose almost 3% to $151.98 a share.
