International stocks trading in New York closed higher on Tuesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts edged up 0.5% to 153.28. The European index ticked up 0.2% to 150.42. The Asian index moved up 0.5% to 173.51. The Latin American index advanced 4% to 193.22, while the emerging-markets index climbed 0.9% to 292.26.

Adaptimmune Therapeutics PLC was among those whose ADRs traded actively.

The novel cancer immunotherapy products developer rose 7.1% after it entered into a transition agreement with GSK PLC over the return of rights and materials comprised within the PRAME and NY-ESO cell therapy programs.

Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. declined 1.8% as China's top internet regulator proposed rules to control artificial-intelligence tools similar to ChatGPT. The announcement came the same day that Alibaba rolled out its large language model called Tongyi Qianwei.
