Bouygues SA and RTL Group SA's plan to merge French TV networks
Television Francaise 1 SA and M6-Metropole Television SA could face
a roadblock from France's antitrust authorities.
A report by the French Competition Authority's investigation
teams says the deal raises a number of significant competition
concerns, Bouygues said late Tuesday.
The report doesn't predict the watchdog's final decision, the
French company, which controls TF1, said.
However, the remedies the report requires would make the plan no
longer meaningful for the parties, and would mean the deal would be
abandoned, Bouygues said.
Bouygues and RTL don't intend to change their original plans,
Bouygues said. Hearings before the French competition authority's
board will take place on Sept. 5 and 6, the company said.
