Stellantis NV and Toyota Motor Europe NV said Monday that they have agreed to produce a new large-sized commercial van for the European market, expanding the companies' existing partnership.

First vehicles under the agreement are planned for 2024. A separate electric-battery powered version is included.

The vans will be produced in Stellantis plants in Poland and Italy and will carry the Toyota brand. The agreement is the first foray for Toyota into large-sized commercial vehicles, the companies said.

The deal marks the third vehicle body type agreed between the two companies, which previously included compact and mid-sized light commercial vehicles.
