Eni SpA said Sunday that it and the United Arab Emirates' national energy company signed an agreement to speed up emissions reduction in the country.

The Italian energy company and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Co., or Adnoc, signed a memorandum of understanding that outlines cooperation for future joint projects on energy transition, sustainability and decarbonization, Eni said.

Eni and Adnoc will explore opportunities in renewable energy, blue and green hydrogen, carbon-dioxide capture and storage, in the reduction of greenhouse-gas and methane-gas emissions, energy efficiency and routine gas-flaring reduction, the company said.
